George Springer has played a pivotal role in the recent success of the Toronto Blue Jays this season. Toronto is currently in first place in the American League East division and Springer’s performance on the field has not gone unnoticed.

He has been one of the hottest hitters in the game and has arguably been the best hitter in Toronto’s lineup.

The 35-year-old made a strong case to be selected to his fifth All-Star Game, but was not picked for the American League team.

Who would have thought that Springer would be putting up numbers like this at this point in his career?

He is hitting over .280 through 84 games, with 16 home runs, 53 RBI, and a .512 slugging percentage.

Those are some impressive numbers right there, and he has truly stepped up as a leader for the Blue Jays.

Springer knows a thing or two about winning, as he was a part of the 2017 Houston Astros team that won the World Series, and he was named World Series MVP.

He’s been the heart and soul of Toronto’s offense, and he’s been exciting to watch the last few weeks.

George Springer Speaks On Rebound Season

“My body feels good and my mind feels good,” Springer said in a recent mlb.com article. “I’m just trying to do anything that I can to help us win. It’s a thing that Schneider says every day and [associate manager] DeMarlo [Hale] says it every day, ‘Just do something to help us win.’ When you embrace that, you don’t try to do too much. There are still times you’ll do that, because you’re human, but it’s about doing what you can to help us win.”

He is one of four players 35 or older to enter the All-Star break with 15 homers and 10 steals.

Springer has always been a team player and willing to do whatever it takes to put the team in the best position possible.

Now, Toronto is one of the teams to beat in the American League, and for them to continue to have this success, Springer will be a key player throughout the remainder of the season.

George Springer Helps Toronto Move Past NY Yankees Into First Place

He put together an impressive performance in a pivotal series against a division foe in the New York Yankees.

Toronto swept the Yankees in four games, and Springer finished the series with a total of eight hits, four of those being home runs, and 11 RBI.

From June 29 to July 6, Toronto has been on an eight-game winning streak, and Springer had a five-game hitting streak during that stretch.

“He’s been so good,” manager John Schneider said. “He’s been so big for us the past couple of weeks. He’s still showing the league that he can do this. I think he should be an American League All-Star, no doubt.”

Springer has silenced any doubters and has proven that he can still play this game at a high level and be an important piece to a team. This could end up being one of Springer’s best seasons of his career, and he can help Toronto make a deep run in the postseason if the team continues to have this kind of success.
