The Chicago White Sox (7-22) are in rebuild mode and with at least three of their top four prospects expected to get the call up to the majors this season, the club has one prospect that will likely make his big league debut in 2027.
The club’s No.5 prospect Braden Montgomery is on the fast track to the majors. Currently slated to arrive in 2027 the talented 2024 dual-threat first-round pick out of Texas A&M is showing big promise.

Montgomery Has The Juice
Teammate Chase Meidroth who’s been in the lead off spot for the White Sox at times this season, raved about Montgomery’s upside having known him since they were 2022 Cape Cod teammates.
“He’s an incredible athlete,” said Meidroth. “Back in the Cape, he was playing right field for eight innings, and then he would jump on the mound for the ninth inning. It was fun to play with him.”
Montgomery Is Just Riding The Wave
As he inches closer to the majors the former Boston Red Sox two-way player was dealt to the White Sox in December 2024, and recently told reporters that’s he’s taking it all in stride.
“I have no clue. I haven’t been in professional baseball enough to really gauge it,” Montgomery said in reference to his timetable for his MLB debut. “I’ve only seen one level at this point. I don’t know how close, but I feel great. And continue to get better by the day. I’m just happy to be back on the field.
“I’m making some good swing decisions as part of the last couple of games. I like how I’m seeing the ball. That’s something I like to take a step forward in and check that box every time I go out on the field. I’m glad even in the young season, it’s getting better game to game. I’m happy. I look forward to getting a little bit better as each game comes and goes.”
Based on Montgomery’s elite skill level and baseball IQ it’s a safe bet that he’ll be in the majors before his expected 2027 arrival.
