With the first half of the 2023 MLB season in the rearview mirror, teams and players are focused on what the second half of the season has in store. With games resuming today, players get back at it with adjusted goals in mind.

For a certain MLBbro, the second half will be used as a way to continue to show his brilliance. After a slow start to the season, Walker found his form. On June 1 Walker’s ERA was 5.65, but over his next six starts he dropped it to 4.02.

Taijuan Walker Is Still Searching For His Philly Zone

The MLBbro is entrenched as the Philadelphia Phillies’ number three starter but has been the most consistent pitcher in their rotation. At 10-3 Walker has the best record on the team’s pitching staff. With a better ERA than Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola, the MLBbro has held the team together and helped keep them within striking distance of the National League Division race.

This past Tuesday the MLB All Star game was held in Seattle, and the MLBbro was not a part of the festivities. A report came out that Walker declined an invitation to pitch in the ASG.

However, on Wednesday, July 12, the MLBbro took to Twitter to address this issue. This shows that the MLBbro felt he was deserving of All-Star status on some level, but is now focused helping the defending National League Champion Phillies reach the postseason.

The Phillies are 48-41, but 12 games back of the dominant Atlanta Braves. The team will rely on the continued success of Walker to climb up the standings. Walker was riding a hot streak into the break, allowing only a .192 batting average over his last six games. All the Phillies’ fans who had written him off should be looking at him now as a hidden gem. Walker has turned out to be one of the most important signings for Philadelphia and will help them tremendously in the second half.
