Former Detroit Tigers player Dmitri Young recalls his greatest career moment, a three-homer Opening Day back in 2005. Young is one of just four players to hit three home runs on Opening Day. Young, was recently named the 14th manager in the history of Mahoning Valley Scrappers baseball. He’s excited to coach in the MLB Draft League.

“Baseball has always been in my blood, it’s always been a huge part of my life,” Young told vindy.com. “I love the aspect of coaching because I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I’ve always had a fascination with teachers.

“Teachers and professors are so unappreciated. Teaching is a thankless job, and it’s one of the most important and rewarding of all professions. Coaching is teaching. I love not only teaching the game, but teaching all of the life lessons that I learned along the way. I love teaching about the journey.”

Young had a 13-year Big League career, with two All-Star appearances, proving that when he was at his best, he was among the best MLBbros to ever do it.
