George Springer has sprung off to a hot start. Thought it was stopping? Well, he’s just getting started.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. may have just gotten a $500 million extension, but it seems that Springer’s value isn’t too far down the totem pole from Guerrero’s.

After the Blue Jays failed to etch a victory against the Mets, Springer’s performance against the Red Sox Monday got them back on track.

George Springer Returns From Injury, Goes 4-for-4

In Boston, Springer went a perfect 4-for-4 and notched three RBI’s — crossing home plate once himself.

There was no guarantee he’d continue his run, though. Through Toronto’s three-game skid, Springer went hitless, and his average fell from .440 to .379 while exiting with lower back spasms. He then entered Sunday’s game as a pinch-runner, but had no plate appearances.

By the looks of Monday’s contest, he’s back to full-health and he’s swinging.

It’s early, but it’s become evident the impact Springer can make on the organization in 2025.

George Springer Signed $150M Contract

It’s not a first for Springer, 35. He’s in the fifth year of his six-year, $150 million contract. Springer has helped the Blue Jays win at least 89 games in three of his four full seasons with the squad.

His 2024 season brought a career-low batting average of .220, but his value becomes more apparent considering his history. In 2022, he made his fourth All-Star team.

Of course, there’s more. In 2017, Springer won World Series MVP with the Astros. In that year, he batted out a .283 average and notched Silver Slugger honors.

If Springer’s able to resurrect a season like that, the Blue Jays, who traded for Andrés Giménez and Nick Sandlin as well as bringing in former Oriole Anthony Santander among other moves, might be in great shape.

It’s not just Springer’s hitting abilities. He’s still more than a capable fielder, not committing an error yet and being the leader Toronto needs with his aforementioned championship.

It’s worth mentioning there’s no guarantee his age and experience makes him a worthy leader. All across sports, some former stars get older and still want to be the guy. But, leadership has always been the name of the game for Springer.

As the season goes, if Springer continues to stay consistent and the Blue Jays find themselves in the playoff hunt, he could be one of the determining factors for how far they go. Once again, it’s early, but if he stays hot — Watch out.
