While the 2025 campaign isn’t finished it’s fair to say that this season didn’t go the way the Los Angeles Angels had hoped. Players battled injuries and losing their manager for the year (MLBbro Ron Washington) to illness didn’t necessarily lead to a consistent clubhouse.
Christian Moore Looks Forward To Future With LA Angels
One young man who wants to stay consistent with the Angels is rookie second baseman Christian Moore. The Brooklyn, NY native made his Major League debut on June 13 and is trying to finish the season strong as he gets used to playing at the highest level of the game.
Christian Moore Was First Round Draft Pick In 2024 Out Of Tennessee
Moore was drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft (8th overall) and immediately began his professional career. Single-A level baseball was a flash for him as he played in just two games for the Inland Empire 66ers and went six for eleven before being promoted to Double-A Rocket City in Alabama.
Things weren’t as easy for him there but he still hit .322 with a pair of multi homer games. Moore’s professionalism brings a certain sense of steadiness to any team that he is with and his performance at both Double-A and Triple A earlier this season merited the promotion to the big leagues less than a year after signing his first professional contract.
Christian Moore Had Celebrated College Career
The 22 year old still is looking to increase his batting average in the major leagues to match his power production but he handles the glove well. With just a week left in the regular season he has committed just two errors with a fielding percentage of .986.
One of the reasons that he was drafted very high is because of his decorated college career. During Moore’s three campaigns at the University of Tennessee the Volunteers’ season he went further and further. His freshman year produced a season in which he hit .305 and his team reached the super regionals round.
In 2023 he helped the Volunteers reach the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska. In 2024, under the steady play of Moore the Tennessee Volunteers won the World Series for the first time in school history. He left school as the all time homerun leader with 61 including 34 over the course of the championship season. Having spent three years in Knoxville, Tennessee for college Moore does enjoy country music and like many young ball players he will participate in video game activity.
