Chicks dig the long ball…

This was a slogan used by Major League Baseball back in the day to showcase power hitters and draw excitement to exploding offenses around the league. It’s a great slogan, but truthfully everybody loves home runs.

Maybe that’s why things seem quiet in the Arizona desert for MLBbros Josh Naylor and Alek Thomas. Neither one of these bros has yet to crank a moonshot for us to watch in awe. However, the thing they’re blessing the Arizona Diamondbacks and their fans with is a word that’s imperative to winning championships: consistency.

No Bro Bombs? No Problem

Let’s start with Josh Naylor. We know for a fact he has no issues blasting bro bombs. In 2024 during his All-Star season with the Cleveland Guardians, Naylor not only showcased his power, but nearly doubled his home run total from 2023 by hitting 31 of them.

Josh Naylor Brings His Canadian Club Out West To Arizona: Cleveland Guardians Will Miss MLBbro

You would expect after a breakout year and after being traded to a new destination that Naylor would get off to a fast start with the long ball. Don’t let the zero in the home run column distract you from the fact that he’s on fire basically everywhere else. Through 10 games, Arizona is 5-5 in a hellacious NL West Division and Naylor is batting .278 with a .742 OPS and he’s yet to go yard, but his production at the plate has been noted.

Don’t Call it a Comeback

Naylor isn’t the only one producing at the plate; fellow bro, Alek Thomas is currently making up for the time that he lost last season when he only played 39 games due to injuries. Thomas was a key contributor to the Diamondbacks 2023 World Series run and his absence was felt in 2024.

As of April 7th, Thomas is starting his comeback season strong with career highs across the board despite not producing a dinger in the five games he’s played, Thomas is slashing .381/.391/.571 and fielding at a high level.

When The Bros are Locked in, The Team Wins

This consistent production at the plate makes the Diamondbacks a contender to watch out for in the National League. Especially if the rate they are playing at offensively continues. Yes, it’s early, but if there’s one thing you can’t deny, it’s that the combined production of Naylor and Thomas makes the Diamondbacks a tough out.

Despite their 5-5 record, Arizona is among league leaders in hits, runs, RBI. When it comes to Naylor and Thomas already being dominant playing small ball, imagine the possibilities for the Diamondbacks when the ball starts to find the bleachers… and I fully expect that to happen soon. After all, 2023 isn’t such a distant memory and history loves to repeat itself.
