Hunter Greene aka, “Greene Machine” has been named to his first MLB All-Star game. If things go as planned, it’s the first of many for the talented Greene, who was taken second overall in the 2017 Draft, behind MLBbro Royce Lewis.

With the way he’s performed over his last five outings, the selection was well deserved for the young phenom, with only having 64 starts in the majors, we can look at multiple All-Star appearances in years to come.

“Hopefully I have a lot more opportunities like today and I’ll be able to enjoy moments like this,” Greene told MLB.com writer Jason Foster.

The “Greene Machine” only has a 5-4 win-loss record, but he pounds the strike zone and makes some of the best hitters strikeout at the plate.

Hunter Greene and Elly De LA Cruz Make History

We’ve seen Greene go to work in his latest series against the Detroit Tigers and in his last 11.2 innings Greene has 13K’s and has allowed just one earned run. Greene will also join his 22-year-old teammate Elly De La Cruz, who has been a young stud in the big league this year.

These two young teammates are going to make history come July 18th. This will be the first time since 1999 that the Cincinnati Reds have two all-stars at the age of 24 or younger. The last duo to do that was Sean Williams and Scott Williamson. According to MLB.com.

The way this year began, you knew the two players would make a bang this season and shatter the prognostications of some haters.

Hunter Greene Replaces Tyler Glasnow

Greene will be replacing the injured starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Greene’s selection was fortunate, but some believed that his resume warranted him being selected without being an injury replacement. He doesn’t look at it that way and is proud and excited to be in this position.

“It’s even more motivation to go into the offseason and work even harder to be able to do it again in the future,” Greene told Jason Foster.

At the beginning of the year, Greene added new pitches to his bag of tricks. Greene added a curveball and a split-finger fastball. These two pitches have been his most effective and his most used. Going up against some of the best AL hitters in the All-Star game on July 16th, will be almost inevitable that someone will fall victim to his powerful fastball.

Hunter Greene is one of the best young pitchers in the game right now. There is no doubt that he will be here for more years to come.
