Next week on July 16th the MLB superstars showcase their talents in front of families and fans in Arlington Texas at Globe Life Field for the All-Star Game. The game where the best of the best competes in the Midsummer Classic. The full rosters from both leagues were released last weekend with 32 making their debuts. The Philadelphia Phillies have the most players in the game with seven… The Los Angeles Dodgers are right behind with six players (including one MLBbro, more on him later!) … There were five MLBbros that were selected for this year’s All-Star Game with three from the American League and three from the National League…
Hunter Greene Machine
The 24-year-old fireballer was a late and well deserving add, as he has still made only 64 starts in the big leagues. But as Greene keeps adding to his resume, he continues to live up to the hype. “I’ve always had huge expectations for myself,” Greene said. “Sometimes it can hurt me. I like to put too much expectation on myself, but it’s good at the same time. It keeps me hungry. It keeps me motivated. It doesn’t allow me to get complacent. “(This) might be validating for others who might have second guessed,” he added. “But for myself, I’m honestly not surprised.” https://youtu.be/IyIH4bLZWoQ Greene has a 3.45 ERA this season and ranks 11th in MLB with 116 strikeouts. While he didn’t get the Opening Day start in 2024, he hasn’t missed a start. He’s developed into the workhorse ace that the franchise projected, and most of the baseball world hoped for as his character matches the quality of his pitches. Last year, Greene missed over two months due to a hip injury. When he returned, he wasn’t the same guy with the 105 MPH heater that we touted only a few years ago. Durability issues plagued his first two MLB season, but those issues are in the rear view. Greene has consistently pitched deep into games and has made significant adjustments to elevate his command on the mound.
CJ Abrams (Washington Nationals):
Count this as another step to superstardom for this MLBbro as he gets a spot as a reserve. Through 81 games Abrams is batting .280 with 14 homers and 46 RBI. His 14 swiped bases along with an .856 OPS shows that he is ready to represent the Nationals proudly next week. While he was the undercard at the time of the Juan Soto trade, CJ Abrams has shown he is a headliner with his power and speed.
Mookie Betts
Out due to injury! https://youtu.be/vziNpRiXpE8 He was guaranteed a starter’s spot if healthy. If there was an MVP for team play and professionalism, Mookie Betts is it. His stats are good, but he should be in for the fact he sacrificed himself learning the shortstop position. Period…nothing else needs to be said.
American League:
Aaron Judge (New York Yankees):
This part could end with a sentence stating that Judge is the best player on the field, best player in the sport and on the planet. Moreover, it would be acceptable because it is the truth. After a slow start in April, this MLBbro has gone on a run not seen since Barry Bonds! After winning the American League Player of the Month (again!) Judge leads or is near the top baseball in every important offensive statistical category and some that aren’t. Even with the Yankees mired in a serious slump, Judge keeps them in the headlines while chasing the Triple Crown. https://twitter.com/MLBbrodotcom/status/1810464017367900456
Josh Naylor (Cleveland Guardians):
Bottom line, Josh Naylor should have gotten the call last year for an All-Star invite. But the MLBbro did not pout, he just made it clear that there’s not a better power hitting first baseman in baseball. Josh Naylor leads all first basemen in home runs with 21 as of this writing while adding 66 RBI. He’s also a part of a brothers MLBbro tag team that TAGGED “Bro Bombs” in the SAME INNING! https://youtu.be/DkEVOxQYXik What makes Naylor an All-Star goes beyond the field. His leadership and closeness to his teammates is a major component to the best team in the American League… “I think a lot of us should be All-Stars and I’m grateful to be one and looking forward to representing this team and my teammates and coaches and this organization,” he said.” Watch out to see if he’s in the Home Run Derby this year as well. He deserves that invite too.
Marcus Semien (Texas Rangers):
This will be Marcus Semien’s third All-Star Game after being voted in by the players. This MLBbro came within an eyelash of starting but the fan vote gave the honor to Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros. But this MLBbro is big time when the bright lights come out…
