Professional athletes are some of the most competitive humans on the planet. The great ones are always hungry to improve on their personal best performances, reach greater heights in their respective sport, and ultimately reach immortal status as one of the game’s legends.

You must be internally driven and mentally tough to become a legend, because adversity is sure to test you along the way.

2023 MLBbro Player of The Year Seeking Immortal Status

As the baseball season is rapidly approaching, one of the league’s best players, Mookie Betts, who is a star on the team, favored to win it all Los Angeles Dodgers had some interesting comments the other day on how he wants to be remembered once his career is over.

Betts recently spoke in an interview with Fox Sports analyst Ken Rosenthal: “I want to be great, When I’m done, I want you to remember not necessarily just the baseball player, but Mookie. I want to be a legend in the game.”

Betts also stated that he is motivated by his family and his “drive within himself”.

The 31-year-old outfielder seems to be on the right track to legendary status as an immortal diamond-miner. Here is a list of his accomplishments:

  • 2x World Series Champion (2018, 2020)
  • AL MVP (2018)
  • 7x All-Star
  • 3x All-MLB First Team
  • All-MLB Second Team (2018)
  • 6x Silver Slugger Award
  • 6x Gold Glove Award
  • 6x Fielding Bible Award
  • 2x Wilson Defensive Player of the Year
  • 2018 AL Batting Champion
  • 30-30 Club (2018)

Betts is almost halfway to 3,000 hits and 500 homers. His stellar resume so far, has the 31-year-old positioned to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer when it’s all said and done.

He was an incremental part of two World Series title teams with the Boston Red Sox in 2018 (a team that had a dominant 108-win season) and the Dodgers during the COVID-19 2020 shortened season.

Betts hasn’t won MVP in five years, but he finished second to Ronald Acuna, who also had one of the greatest seasons ever for a leadoff hitter. Mookie has finished in the Top 10 in All-Star voting every season since 2016. One of his second-place finishes occurred last season when Betts had a stellar batting season with splits of .307/.408/.579.

With numerous accolades under his belt, Betts has another chance to add to his list of achievements with perhaps the most talented supporting cast he has ever played with.

The Dodgers signed one of the best players in the game in Shohei Ohtani and young pitching prodigy Yoshinobu Yamamoto, while also still having one the best first basemen in baseball in Freddie Freeman.

LA Dodgers Need To Win First World Series Since COVID-Shortened 2020

The Dodgers have come up short in reaching the World Series since they won in 2020, losing in the 2021 Championship Series to the eventual World Series Champs Atlanta Braves, while also losing in the Divisional Round the next two years to the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Betts has also been active off the field launching his own podcast where he talks to other MLB stars, and is on YouTube, showing fans what a day in the life is like for a professional baseball player.

He also has a movie production agreement with Propagate Content and helped produce a film on the great Jackie Robinson.

“We’ve been to the playoffs so many times and haven’t come through,” Betts told Rosenthal. We’ve gotten one, but 1-for-9-or-10 is not very good in our sport, really in general.”

The two-time champ and former AL MVP hopes to bring another title to Los Angeles with his loaded team.
