“You are the best center fielder in the game, start acting like it.” 

Those words lit a fire under Michael “Money” Harris, who has turnt his game up to another level since hearing them last week; earning him the top spot on Week 11 of our #HighFive List.

 

1. Michael “Money” Harris II

The hangover from being named last season’s National League Rookie of The Year went on much longer than Harris expected.

 

At one point, his batting average had gotten as low as .163 and he only had two home runs through the first two months of the season.

 

Things changed on June 7th when Harris was given a pre-game pep talk from his teammate Marcell Ozuna told Harris who he was and implored that he start acting like it.

The message was received loud and clear as since then Harris has been on an offensive tear.

He is slashing .407/.429/.704 with two home runs, five RBI, and two steals over his last seven games.

In game 1 of Wednesday’s double-header in Detroit, Harris was 4-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, three runs and a stolen base.

That makes three three-hit games in June for Harris who entered the month with zero this year. His Braves welcome Colorado to Atlanta for a four-game series this weekend.

 

2. Josh Naylor

Josh Naylor’s 5th inning single Wednesday night extended his 13-game hitting streak which is currently the longest in Major League Baseball.

Like Harris, he got off to a slow start this year, but now, particularly over his last seven games, he has been one of the hottest hitters on the planet.

 

His batting average stands at .448 with a .438 on base percentage and six RBI, giving him 48 on the year.

Those rank 6th in the American League and second behind Pete Alonso for first among first basemen.

 

He brings his Guardians into Arizona this weekend for a matchup against the leaders of the National League West.

 

3. Ke’Bryan Hayes

Ke’Bryan Hayes has seemingly locked up his first career Gold Glove award, but if he continues his June hitting streak his name will begin to be thrown around amongst the best all-around third baseman in baseball.

 

This month he is hitting .444 with nine RBI, seven runs scored and two homers. Hayes already has four games with at least three hits this month, including a 5-for-5 game last Friday.

 

In addition to his current offensive outburst he also leads all third baseman in defensive WAR and is making a late push to represent the Pirates at next month’s All-Star Game.

4. Aaron Hicks

Aaron Hicks has made the most of a fresh start in Baltimore, plugging in nicely in the absence of their All-Star outfielder Cedric Mullins.

Hicks has reached base safely in all 12 games with the Orioles and is hitting .371 a home run and six RBI.

For both the Yankees and Hicks, the decision to move on was best for both parties as since his departure Willie Calhoun has grown into the grace of the Bronx faithful.

Hick’s will look to stay hot this weekend in this weekend series at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs.

 

5. Mookie Betts

With hits in eight straight games and a .300 average over his last seven games Betts earned himself his usual spot on our #HighFive List.

 

Betts’ value to the Dodgers this year cannot all be seen in his numbers.

His ability to play shortstop, second and outfield has added much needed versatility and flexibility for the Los Angeles lineup.

Betts currently ranks in the top 10 in the National League for RBI and is fourth in the Majors in total runs scored.
