On September 23, the Seattle Mariners recalled outfielder Taylor Trammell from Triple-A. This move came in light of Mariners all-star Julio Rodriguez being placed on the 10-day Injured List due to a lower back strain. Trammell is no stranger to the MLB, as he’s appeared in 41 games this season. He now has a chance to make a name for himself as the season is coming to an end.
In the 42 games that he’s appeared, he hit .204 with 10 RBI, four home runs, and 15 runs scored.
On Sunday, he started against the Kansas City Royals and was hitless. Before that, his last appearance came back on the September 19 against the Los Angeles Angels. September is a time, where call ups occur for most of the teams throughout the league. Players who have spent time in the minors get an opportunity to put on a big league jersey, whether it’s for the first time or multiple times.
Trammell is a talented outfielder and has what it takes to play in the MLB. With Rodriguez having the success he’s had; Trammell has a lot of work to do if he wants to be a part of the Mariners roster on a consistent basis.

That’s why Trammell will need to make the most of his opportunity the next few weeks. The Mariners have already seen what he can do on the field and if he can contribute for the team as the season is ending, he could potentially find himself on the roster if the Mariners can secure a wild card spot in the playoffs. Trammell has spent 22 games with Seattle’s Triple-A affiliate Tacoma Rainiers, and he has put up some solid numbers playing with them.
He was hitting .333 with five home runs, 12 RBI and eight stolen bases before being called up a few days ago. After a disappointing rookie season last year with Seattle in which he hit .160 in 51 games, he has shown improvement in his second season and the sky’s the limit for the 25-year-old. The Mariners have a bright future ahead with all of the talent the team has on its roster.
Tramm is definitely MLB material. Whenever he touches the minors he rips the pitchers apart.
And Trammell is a player who can make an impact on this team for years to come. Keep a close eye on this MLBbro as the season comes to an end and the playoff begin.
