We’re saying ADIOS to a rough #BrosBettingBaseball month of June, and welcoming July with some winners! The man with the stats (@abookay3) is coming in strong with all three picks this first Friday of July, after my (@bbruh916) “sleeper” picks last week came up with another 1 win 2 loss record. My MLBBro has been on a HEATER the last few days, so we ride the hot hand into dollar bill land!
1. We head to the heart of America at 3:40pm Pacific to check out the Atlanta Braves (-212) visiting the Cincinnati Reds (+180). After a weepy visit from the Dodgers big time bats and top dollar arms, the Braves are ready to feast on a much lesser opponent and the Reds are serving up prime rib in their lefty Mike Minor. Mike has been a buffet line, as he’s sitting on a fat 7.71 ERA and has thrown a measly 21 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched. Meanwhile, the Brave’s left hander Max Fried has been a famine when he takes the bump. Batters should call him “Minimum,” as he’s allowing only 2.77 earned runs on the average, and his 7 wins and 2 losses are among the league’s stingiest in giving up an L. The Reds bats are consistently ranked in the bottom half for all offensives categories, and that all factors in PropaganDrew’s pick of the Braves moneyline to start our day.
2. After a historical 16.1 innings of being NO-HIT by the Astros last weekend, the New York Yankees (pronounced Aaron Judge) finally found their way and managed a series tie against their American League foes. Heading into July the Yankees (no line posted) take on the emerging Cleveland Guardians in “The Land,” as both teams look to get a firmer hold of the top spot in their respective divisions. The Guardians slipped up against the Twins after holding 1st in the AL Central for all of two days, and are hoping Aaron Civale’s 7.2 ERA can cut it against the league leader in Runs (383) and Home Runs (126) in the Yankees. The Guardians are hoping their 10th ranked Batting Average can squeeze some offense out of Yankee’s ace Gerrit Cole. That’s much easier said than done against Cole’s 2.99 ERA, and his 4th ranked strikeout total of 111. We’re literally choosing the hot hand and taking the Yankees moneyline.
3. Let’s end our July opener on the west coast, as the budding rivalry between the leaders of the NL West takes the primetime stage. The Los Angeles Dodgers (-140) host the San Diego Padres (+140) and are looking to extend their lead with their undefeated right-hander Tony Gonsolin (1.58 ERA, 9 wins – 0 losses). The Padres look to close the 1.5 game deficit by marching out their lefty, 2018 Cy Young award winner, Blake Snell. My have the tables turned since Blake left the Rays! Snell is having quite possibly the worst year of his career, as he has yet to win in 2022 (0 wins – 5 losses) and has seen his ERA balloon to 5.60. As impressive as the Padres have been with a long list of players on the IL, the #BrosBestBet is the Dodgers moneyline to close out the night. The Bros will be throwing some of our bankroll on the -1.5 Dodgers runline and over 3.5 runs prop, too!
