Billy Hamilton once stole 155 bases in the minor leagues but has struggled to hit consistently in his nine years in major league baseball.

Hamilton’s .241 lifetime batting average has hindered the impact he could make on the league, but every now and then he reminds us of his potential game-wrecking ability.

His four-hit game on Wednesday night and the way he murdered the basepaths, giving the White Sox a speedster at the bottom of the lineup to match Tim Anderson’s top-of-the-order spice, was dope. Even if it was — in the words of the great Luther Vandross — “only for one night.”
