Jaden Hill hasn’t given up a run in his last three appearances, a stretch he punctuated with a scoreless relief outing against one of baseball’s best lineups, the New York Yankees, this past Tuesday. It’s one of Hill’s best sustained stretches of an up and down 2026 season for the 26 year old right-hander, and it’s coming at a time late in the season when the Rockies bullpen, just like any other, is fatigued and needs help wherever it can find it.
Over his last five appearances, Hill has thrown five innings, allowing four hits, three runs and striking out five hitters. Over his last three outings he hasn’t let anyone cross the plate, capped by Tuesday’s inning in the Bronx, where he worked around a pair of walks to keep the Yankees off the board. Getting through a lineup like that unscathed, is an outing the young reliever can point to when he’s trying to convince a coaching staff he belongs in bigger moments.
Jaden Hill Emerging As Rare & Reliable Reliever For Colorado Rockies
The season as a whole has been a mixed bag. Hill has made 40 appearances this year, throwing 34.2 innings to a 4.67 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP, with 36 strikeouts, two saves, four games finished and a career high 0.6 WAR, up slightly from the 0.5 he posted a year ago. It’s a step back from last season in several areas, and he’s allowing more traffic on the bases than he did in 2025, but he’s continued to limit hard contact and the long ball. The Rockies have kept testing him in save situations and have experimented with him in the closer role, rather than burying him in garbage time.
Hill has earned himself more playing time three seasons in a row. It’s not easy to be a young pitcher in the Majors, going through growing pains is part of the journey of establishing one’s self. “You learn a lot through it, as soon as you start going up something hits you but you’ve just got to keep learning from those mistakes,” he said. ”And nothing’s worth having if you don’t have to go through some pain for it. And you don’t learn as much from it. I’ve learned a lot and I’m just going to keep pushing.”
“I Trust The Work That I’ve Put In”: Jaden Hill Continues To Fight For His MLB Life
Hill is a project who has potential but has also struggled. He’s at the Major League level right now, this is his chance to prove that he should stay here. When interviewed by MLBbro’s Byron Dixon in May, Hill had this to say about belonging at the MLB level, “I’m out there to do a job, I do belong here. I’m here, it’s up to me to go out there and let my work show.”
Jaden is likely to be a part of the Rockies bullpen in 2027 for what would be his fourth big league season. The breakout is yet to come, but if he’s given patience and space to grow, he can be one of the rare successful pitchers developed by Colorado.
