MLBbros Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm, Byron Buxton and George Springer were named to the 2025 American League Silver Slugger Award roster on Friday night.
For Judge, it’s the fifth time he has won the award and for good reason. The Yankees slugger led all in Major League Baseball in batting average (.331), on-base percentage (.457), slugging (.688), on-base plus slugging (1.144), intentional walks (36) and Wins Above Replacement WAR (9.7, according to Baseball Reference).
Judge became only the third player in Major League history to hit at least 50 homers and win a batting title in the same season, joining Mickey Mantle (1956) and Jimmie Foxx (1938). The 53 homers that Judge hit were the most by any player who has won a batting title.
Although he missed 28 games because of a right oblique strain early in the season, Chisholm made up for lost time and ended up with the best season of his career. He became the third player (fourth time) in Yankees history to record 30 homers and 30 stolen bases in a single season, joining Alfonso Soriano in 2002 and ‘03 and Bobby Bonds in 1975. Even more impressive is, 10 of his final 26 home runs from April 14 to Sept. 28 either tied the game (two) or gave the Yankees the lead (eight).
The Twins were a disappointment in ‘25, but not Buxton. He stayed on the field for the first time since 2017 and ended up having the best season of his career. Buxton had career highs in homers [35], RBIs [83] and runs scored [97]. His 11 leadoff homers tied Jacque Jones (2002) for the most in a single season in franchise history.
Springer had a season to remember and it’s the reason he won his third Silver Slugger award. In 140 regular season games, Springer had a slash line of .309/.399/.560 with an OPS+ of 161 and 32 homers. It is his best season since 2019 when he was with the Astros.
