LOS ANGELES – Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer did not play in Game 4 of the 2025 World Series on Tuesday night because of right side discomfort, an injury he suffered swinging the bat in the seventh inning of Game 3 against Dodgers the previous night.

Springer was not taken off the postseason roster and is listed as day-to-day, according to Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Springer had an MRI on his right side and the results were negative. In fact, the skipper told FoxSports that Springer was able to take a few swings in the batting cage before the start of Tuesday’s game.

George Springer Was Toronto Blue Jays Regular Season MVP

Springer was the Blue Jays’  Most Valuable Player during the regular season after putting up a slash line of .309/.399/.560 with 32 home runs and 106 runs scored. Springer is also one of the reasons Toronto is in the World Series. Springer’s three-run homer in the seventh inning of Game 7 of the American League Championship Series gave Toronto a 4-3 lead and the pennant over the Mariners.

“He plays for moments like this,” Schneider said about Springer. “I think I told you guys … , whenever this season’s over, you guys will be surprised to see how much he has grinded physically. So yeah, if he’s good to go in any way, shape, or form, I want George in [the game].”

If Springer is not in the lineup for Game 5, look for Bo Bichette to be the DH. Bichette is still dealing with a left-knee sprain suffered against the Yankees on Sept. 6.
