For the first time in the last four years, Mookie Betts was not selected to the All-Star team. Betts has arguably been one of the top players in the league throughout the last few seasons. While Betts didn’t make the All-Star team this season, that does not take away the impact he continues to have on his team. The Dodgers are holding on to a slim lead in the NL West and have their eyes set on winning back-to-back World Series titles. Betts is looking to win his fourth World Series title and third with the Dodgers. And the Dodgers have the team to bring another title back to LA.

Mookie Betts Is Still A Lethal Weapon

When you have a player like Betts, you get a guy who can make an impact at the plate and in the field. And you certainly don’t want a player like him to not be on the field. Last year, the Dodgers were without Betts for nearly three months as he dealt with an injury. While he was out for a significant time, the team was able to find success in his absence.

This season is a different story; Betts has been healthy throughout the season which is a plus. During the 2024 regular season he appeared in 116 games and this season he will surpass that number. Through 114 games, he’s hitting .242 with 13 home runs and 57 RBI. Offensively, he’s struggled at times this season, but he has always found a way to come up in clutch situations and put his team in a position to win games.

Struggling Mookie Betts Back In Leadoff Spot For Dodgers

He started August on a slow note but picked things up at the plate. Betts went four consecutive games without a hit and then followed that up with an eight-game hitting streak. During that hitting streak, he had a three-hit performance against the St. Louis Cardinals, one of his best offensive performances this season.

Throughout his career, Betts has been a spark at the top of the lineup and in his 12th season, he continues to add value to his team’s offense. On Sunday, Betts helped cement a series sweep over NL rival, the San Diego Padres. With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Betts hit a solo shot to give the Dodgers the lead and that was the nail in the coffin.

“Finally, I did something good for the boys that’s with the bat,” Betts told Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

That series against the Padres was a crucial one for the Dodgers because the two teams are one and two in the division.

Mookie Betts Is Still The Key To LA Dodgers World Series Repeat

It looks like Betts is getting his swagger back at the plate and it is happening at the right time.

“Every at-bat is the same at this point,” Betts said. “Just trying to do something productive. It definitely helps to not carry burdens from previous at-bats.”

Despite the struggles Betts has encountered offensively throughout the season, he does not let those struggles define who he is as a hitter and knows that he can and will have success at the plate.
