Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium we were reminded of the true beauty of Baseball and why it is still a kid’s game in more ways than one. Mookie Betts’ two-year-old son Kaj threw out the ceremonial first pitch on the same night his fathers was celebrated during his Bobblehead Night.

Unfortunately, it was one of the Dodgers’ worst performances of the season, an 11-1 loss to the lowly A’s. It really didn’t matter because Kay stole the show with his athleticism as his sister and mom chased him into rightfield, trying to get the ball of energy to throw the baseball towards his dad waiting at home plate.

Kaj wore a smaller version of his dad’s No. 50 jersey and ran toward the mound and then kept going. As with any toddler they follow their own sets of rules, he ended up all the way toward the infield dirt just to the right of second base.

Briefly chased by his older sister Kynlee, his mother Brianna ultimately made the save. He was able to make it back to the mound & toss the ball to his smiling Dad who was visibly proud not only internally externally also. After the pitch Betts rushed to pick up his son and you could then see why baseball is indeed still a child’s game even for one of the game’s best players who is passing down memories his son may not understand currently but will remember when the time is right and do the same with his family one day.

Meanwhile Mookie Betts has worked his way out of an early season slump aided by a stomach illness and he’s currently sixth in the league in runs scored with 32. The Dodgers are a ½ game up in the tightly-contested NL West division and a happy, healthy Mookie is a championship recipe for the Dodgers.
