DETROIT – Here’s a reminder to peeps who forgot about MLBbro Trent Grisham: He’s a good player.

And right now? He’s playing great.

Grisham is off to a blazing-hot start for the New York Yankees in 2025, and he’s making sure everybody in the Bronx and beyond remembers his name.

Trent Grisham Mashing For Yankees

Coming into Sunday, Grisham had already been flexing, hitting .471 (8-for-17) with three homers, four RBIs, and a 1.630 OPS.

On Sunday, against the Pirates Grisham stayed hot, returning to the lineup and delivering a clutch two-run single to tie the game in the ninth inning. He finished with two RBIs, but despite his efforts, the Yankees dropped a close one, 5-4.

“Trent is an everyday player; I think people forget that,” said MLBbro Marcus Stroman after Saturday’s game against the Pirates, “It’s almost impossible to really truly be your best if you’re not consistently getting everyday at-bats or reps.”

And if folks weren’t paying attention before, they woke up after Saturday’s performance against the Pirates — a 10-4 Yankees win where Grisham launched two bombs and drove in four runs.

Grisham’s power surge for a Yankees squad that’s been raking early in the season. Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 at the top of the lineup, Anthony Volpe added a bases-clearing double, and the whole offense has been rolling, scoring at least nine runs in three straight games.

Trent Grisham Is Gold Glove Outfielder

But it’s Grisham, the former Gold Glove center fielder, who’s stealing the headlines right now.. After hitting just .190 in limited action last year, he’s come into 2025 locked in, focused, and prepared to show out. And now, he’s becoming a key part of a Yankees lineup that’s been relentless.

“It’s been relentless,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of the lineup. “They’re taking tough at-bats. We’re scoring a lot, and a lot of guys are swinging the bat well.”

Grisham’s confidence at the plate is translating to impact moments  and it’s not just about numbers. It’s about timing. Whether it’s a late-game situation or a big moment early, he’s stepped in and delivered. That kind of clutch gene is exactly what winning teams are built on.

Let’s not forget Grisham was brought in as a depth piece. But in this league, when opportunity knocks, you either answer or fade. Grisham kicked the door down.

This early-season version of this MLBbro looks like a player with something to prove and he’s proving it nightly. His defense in center is still elite, and now that his bat is catching fire, the Yankees are seeing the full value of having a hungry vet on their roster.

I’m not saying he’s the MVP of the Yankees just yet… but if he keeps raking like this, don’t be surprised if the Bronx starts chanting his name.

If Grisham keeps this up, Boone’s gonna have a great problem on his hands. Whether it’s off the bench, in center field, or as a spark plug in the lineup Grisham is making it clear he’s not just filling in. He’s standing out.

And the Yankees? They’re better for it.
