NEW YORK — MLBbro’s Trent Grisham played a significant role in the Yankees’ 7-3 victory over the Angels on Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium. The win snapped New York’s six-game losing streak. Grisham went 2-for-3 including the go-ahead two-run homer that gave the Bronx Bombers a 3-2 lead in the second inning. Of the 14 homers he has hit this season, 10 of them have either tied the game or put the Yankees in the lead.

Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Says Grisham Is A Cool Customer

During the losing streak, Yankee manager Aaron Boone said Grisham is the one guy who is never pressing at the plate or on defense. Just check out the way he flips his bat when he hits a homer or when he makes a great catch in the outfield, according to the skipper. Grisham always has a chill attitude.

“He doesn’t know [anything about pressing],” Boone said. “I get asked a lot about Grish. After being over 1.000 OPS and setting the world on fire early [in the season] and not getting some of the results [recently], I feel like he has been close … throughout the last few weeks. For him to break through with the power today and add another hit by setting the table with the double [in the seventh inning], … he was really productive at the bottom today.”

Grisham said that he doesn’t let a slump get the best of him. It helps that he is around veterans like Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt.

“You have to make a conscious effort. This game will beat you up. It was something that was taught to us when we were younger through the Minor Leagues,” Grisham said. “You don’t understand it until you get to the Major Leagues. But when you get to a team like [the Yankees] with a bunch of veterans around, you see the way they lead and how consistent they are day in and day out, it rubs off on guys.”
