Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has made a name for himself during his time in the league. He’s spent his entire career in Minnesota while adding multiple accolades to his resume. On Sunday, the organization specially honored Buxton as he reached 10 years in the majors.

Byron Buxton Has Decade In The Game
The two-time all-star was the second overall pick by the Twins in the 2012 draft. Buxton made his debut in 2015, and since then, he’s received a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award. He was also a member of the USA Team during this year’s World Baseball Classic.
Buxton was filled with emotions as he addressed the team before their game against the Kansas City Royals.
“It’s been a long road, and honestly, I didn’t think I was going to get the 10 years,” Buxton said. “Just with the way my career started out with injuries and stuff out of my control.”
Throughout his time with the Twins, Buxton has become a leader on and off the field, it’s not often you see a player spend their entire career with one team, but Buxton is doing just that.
“I’ve been blessed to have that support and wear this uniform my whole career, and I got some years left,” he said.
Emotional Buxton Has Overcome Numerous Injuries
Buxton has had the opportunity to play with some great players who wore a Twins uniform, like Torii Hunter and Joe Mauer. He has a lot of respect for his team, and he makes sure that his teammates know that.
“Y’all have always had my back and that’s why I tell each and every one of y’all every day I go out, I got your back, because y’all had mine throughout my career,” Buxton told his team.
In November of 2021, he signed a seven-year $100 million contract extension through 2028 that included a $1 million signing bonus. There’s no question that the organization values Buxton and
Buxton made his first All-Star team in 2022 and at the time he finished the season with a career-high in home runs with 28. He made his second all-star last season and set a new career-high in homers with 35 and he also set a career-high in RBI with 83 and stolen bases with 24.
It has not been an easy ride for Buxton during his career, as he’s dealt with numerous injuries that have forced him to be sidelined. But he understands that it’s part of the game and he has bounced back from his injuries time and time again.
Buxton has played a lot of games throughout his career. He has appeared in over 900 games and is not showing any signs of slowing down. Minnesota has watched Buxton grow and develop into an all-star and a top player in the league.
When his career is over and he decides to hang up the cleats, Buxton will be a player that many will remember throughout the state of Minnesota and the organization. He has and continues to leave a positive impact not only on the Twins organization, but the overall game of baseball itself.
