Marcus Semien signed a 7-year/$175M deal with the Texas Rangers in 2021 and together with Corey Seager gave them an elite middle infield that helped the franchise win its first World Series in 2023 over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
According to reports, Texas is currently the process of finalizing a blockbuster trade with the New York Mets involving Semien. The 35-year-old infielder has spent his last four seasons in Arlington, but he has three years remaining on the long-term deal he signed. In return, the Rangers will get outfielder Brandon Nimmo.
“The New York Mets and Texas Rangers are finalizing a trade that would send second baseman Marcus Semien to the Mets and outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers, sources tell ESPN,” as reported by Passan on X.
Semien’s family is very important to him and his father Damien Semien, a friend of MLBbro, says the trade was a complete shock to the family, but Semien is the ultimate professional, and the 13-year veteran is hoping to have a revival of sorts after a down year in Texas by his standards.
“Surprised like a MF….” Damien tells MLBbro.com, “But F- it.”
