NEW YORK – The dynamic duo, MLBbros Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton, were at it again on Saturday afternoon. They had a homer apiece and helped the Yankees to a 6-1 victory over the Orioles at Yankee Stadium.

The Bronx Bombers maintain at least a share of the American League East lead with the Blue Jays. If both teams win on Sunday, Toronto will win the division because it won the season series against New York, 8-5. If that’s the case, the Yankees would start the Wild Card round early next week.

“It won’t matter either way,” Judge said. “Our first goal is to win our division. There is an opportunity to get a couple of more games for our fans. But the guys in this room … will be happy either way. We punched our ticket. We know that is not the end goal. If we play in the Wild Card or play in the division series, either will be fine. I know we definitely want that division.”

It was Judge who put the Bronx Bombers on the board in the first inning by hitting his 53rd homer of the season off right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano, a solo shot into the left-field seats.

An inning late later, Stanton led off and hit a monster shot into the Yankees bullpen to give New York a 2-0 lead. It marked the 59th time Judge and Stanton hit a home run in the same game. The team is 52-7 in those games.

“It’s fun [teaming up with Stanton],” Judge said. “It’s something we dreamed about ever since he was traded [to the Yankees] in 2018. It was a good opportunity to do that a couple of times. It’s kind of cool to look back. … Fifty-nine times. It’s unbelievable and I’m looking for more.”

Teammate Ryan McMahon was part of the home run parade on Saturday and he is impressed by what he has seen from Judge and Stanton.

“They are the heartbeat of this team. They are the big sluggers. They come through when the team needs them the most. You kind of expected it because that’s who they are,” McMahon said.

Judge added the frosting to the game in the fifth inning. New York scored four more runs and he highlighted the scoring with a two-run single off left-hander Grant Wolfram.

Judge goes into Sunday’s game leading the Major Leagues with a .331 batting average. He could be the first member of the Yankees to win the award since DJ LeMahieu led the A.L. with a .364 average in 2020.

“We have one more game then we will see what happens,” Judge said. “There is a lot of hard work. We have a great team, great opportunities. I want to do everything in my power to get better each day. I really have nothing right now. I’ll give you a better answer next time.”
