World Series Game 3: The All-Around Excellence Of Marcus Semien and Corey Seager Lead Texas Rangers To Ninth Straight Postseason Road Win

World Series Game 3: The All-Around Excellence Of Marcus Semien and Corey Seager Lead Texas Rangers To Ninth Straight Postseason Road Win

Marcus Semien threw a much-needed jab with a two-out RBI single. That was followed by a knockout blow delivered by his double play partner Corey Seager, in the form of a game-winning two-run homer in the 3rd inning of the Rangers 3-1 win over Arizona in Game 3 of the World Series.

Texas has tied the record for longest road win streak in postseason history going 9-0 to date.

Rangers $500 Million dollar dub:

In November of 2021, the Texas Rangers committed $500 million to former World Series MVP shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien who was coming off his first year playing second base and breaking the record for homers hit at the position.

Almost two years later, in Game 3 of the World Series the pair carried the Rangers to a 3-1 win thanks to a pair of big hits and huge double plays.

Marcus Semien started the scoring for Texas with a two-out single to left field in the third.

He had been struggling to find grass for most of the postseason and was batting just 2-for-10 in the World Series; both of those hits coming either when the game was out of reach, or nobody was on base.

“A two-out single in the World Series? It does not get better than that,” Semien said postgame.

A few pitches later, he took a slow stroll around the bases after Seager launched a homer, giving Semien, who scored 122 times this year, his first career run in the World Series. The pair would then close the game out with defense in the 8th inning, turning a double play after Seager made a sliding stop and flipped the ball to Semien who threw a strike to end the inning.

What could’ve been after Pham’s single:

Tommy Pham was the best trade deadline addition for any team this season and he has done his part to help Arizona win their first World Series since 2001. After finishing Game Two 4-for-4 Pham came up in his first at-bat with a runner on second and shot a single to right field.

With no outs in the inning, you would think the D-Backs would take their chance to scratch out a few runs early, but they decided to test MLB’s outfield assists leader and the runner on second was thrown out at home.

The following half inning, the Rangers would go on to score all three of their runs. Pham would finish the game 2-for-4, raising his postseason batting average to .291.

Since coming to the team, Pham has been one of their two best hitters, but he is going to need some ducks on the pound that will turn his hits into RBI opportunities. Arizona center fielder Alek Thomas was 0-for-3 in the game but added to his Gold Glove case with a leaping catch in the 8th.

First pitch for Game Four is scheduled for 7 PM Tuesday night.
