What a week in baseball!
From MLBbro Aaron Judge giving the ultimate side-eye on his way to a win against the Blue Jays, to the big bosses of MLBbro.com appearing on The Breakfast Club, it’s been a fun week for Black and Brown baseball. Let’s cap this week off with three winning picks, a chubbier wallet, and most importantly a bookie so deep in his feelings that he makes Eeyore look ecstatic!
ANYWHO…let’s get to these picks.
1. In a battle of second place teams, the NL West runner up Arizona Diamondbacks (-190) travel to the suddenly free-falling Pittsburgh Pirates (+160) of the NL Central. Since their meteoric start of the season, the Pirates have yet to post back-to-back wins in the month of May. It seems like that meteor has come crashing down to earth.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks have won five of their last 6 games. They will feature their ace, Zac Gallen, who has been remarkable to start the year with six wins, only one loss, a stingy 2.35 ERA, and a nasty 70 strikeouts.
Easy work. Take the Diamondbacks -1.5 RL (-110).
2. It’s been the story of second place for the city of Philadelphia. Not only did the Phillies (-135) fall short in the World Series, but the Eagles fell short in the “The Big Game,” The MLS Philadelphia Union lost in their league finale, and the 76ers couldn’t even crack the Eastern Conference Finals. The Phillies went into the offseason spending money like Rob Parker on an Air Jordan drop, but it has yet to translate to wins. At just 20-23, they are sitting at fourth in the NL East and are looking for a win to break their four-game losing streak.
They’ll be hosting the Chicago Cubs (+115), who are in an even worse slump after dropping their fifth game in a row. They’re hoping to get a stellar outing from MLBbro Marcus Stroman (2 wins – 4 losses, 3.24 ERA), who’s been hard on himself for giving up multiple-run innings in his last few starts.
This should be the Stro Show’s slumpbuster. Bro’s Best Bet, Cubs +1.5 RL (-180).
3. We’ll close up shop in Baseballtown, as the Los Angeles Dodgers (-135) travel to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals (+115). After their worst start in decades, the Red Birds are finally catching their stride winning eight of their last 10 games. “Cool story bro,” is likely how the Dodgers fans would respond, as their team has posted an identical record in their last 10 games. Both teams are finally playing up to their potential, but the key here will be the pitching battle. The Dodger’s Tony Gonsolin will be MONEY.
Give me the Dodgers Moneyline (-125).

We made it to a Friday MLBbros and gals!
If you’re new to the column, I pick three MLB winners for you and even throw in a best bet for those who want to dip their toe in the action. If you love the picks, we welcome you back every weekday for my daily best bets on @MLBbrodotcom via Twitter. If you hate the picks, well then go let my boss @RobParkerFS1 know. He absolutely loves negative feedback (and Lebron James).
ANYWHO…let’s get to the picks!
1. “The Orioles and Pirates are good.” It’s been a few years since we could say this sentence with a straight face, and yet here we are. 2023 started off great for the Pittsburgh Pirates (+135), but they’re barely hanging onto the top spot in the NL Central after dropping eight of their last nine games. The Baltimore Orioles (-155), meanwhile, continue to battle in the toughest division in baseball as they try to catch the red-hot Tampa Bay Rays.
This matchup will feature neither of the teams’ best pitchers, as both Johan Oviedo (2 wins – 3 losses) for the Pirates and Kyle Bradish (1 win – 1 loss) for the Orioles have sky-high ERAs over 5.5. The fact that both teams are in the top half in the MLB in most offensive categories leaves me scratching my head why the bookies placed the over/under on runs at 8.
Take the Pirates and Orioles OVER 8 total runs.
2. Rest in peace, Vida Blue. The passing of one of 15 Black Aces in MLB history hit hard for our MLBbro team and was especially difficult for Oakland A’s (+162) fans who are in the midst of an historically bad season.
The Texas Rangers (-195), conversely, are hoping to erase their recent history of mediocre play as they sit atop the AL West. Their lefty starter Martin Perez (4 wins – 1 loss, 3.86 ERA) is aging like a fine wine. He’s traded in his velocity for better ball placement on his way to 28 Ks already in the season. Oh, did I mention run support? It doesn’t hurt that the Ranger’s offense also ranks in the top 10 in every offensive category.
Easy call on today’s Bro’s Best Bet, Rangers Moneyline (-195).
3. Our final matchup features one of my favorite new school rivalries, as the San Diego Padres (+118) head up I-5 to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (-140). Despite the star power, both offenses are middling as injuries and underwhelming production from their most notable stars has left much to be desired in SoCal. The pitching matchup, though, will be key. Blake Snell (1 win – 5 losses, 4.89 ERA) is a MUST FADE.
Give me the Dodgers Moneyline (-125).

Welcome back MLBbros and gals, and I’m writing at you from the betting capital of the world, Las Vegas! I guess the A’s aren’t the only Northern California product to make its way to the desert, but unlike them I’m just here to get my cash and bounce like a coed at one of Rob Parker’s favorite establishments.
ANYWHOO, I have yet to drop a game this week so let’s make these three a clean sweep!
- First stop on today’s money making mission is Pittsburgh, as the Pirates (+125) welcome in the Toronto Blue Jays (-145). What a ride for one of the original MLBbros, Andrew McCutchen. After launching his career in the Steel City 13 years ago, he returned to lead the Pirates in home runs and help mentor up-and-coming MLBbro Ke’Bryan Hayes. The Pirates are still shockingly first in the NL Central, and are being disrespected by those dirty bookies in today’s matchup against the Blue Jays.
Take the Pirates +1.5 (-135).
2. Contrary to popular belief, it does indeed rain in Southern California…and we’re hoping it does rain (dollars) for our second pick, as the Los Angeles Dodgers (-125) take that trip down I-5 to battle their NL West rival San Diego Padres (+105). The Dodgers appear to be back in business after a slow start riddled with injuries and new dads who were out on paternity leave. They are back on top of the NL West, and their wily veteran Clayton Kershaw (5 wins – 1 loss, 1.89 ERA) gets much of the credit for being one of the lone consistent pieces on this team.
While MLBbro, and former MVP, Mookie Betts works himself back into championship form after his paternity leave, another member of the new dad club is leading the Dodgers in home runs (12) and RBIs (27). Mad Max Muncy is on a tear, and if his walk-off grand slam last Wednesday is a preview of what’s to come then the Padres are in trouble.
The Padres should make it interesting, but the pick is Dodgers moneyline (-125).
3. We’re ending our Friday in my neck of the woods, as the Milwaukee Brewers (-125) are continuing their NL West tour against the San Francisco Giants (+105). The Giants are mediocre. No way around it. Bottom half in the league in batting average, runs, hits, and on base percentage. Their starting pitcher, Sean Manaea (0 wins – 1 loss, 7.85 ERA), seems to have lost the velocity and filth that once made his games must-see-TV when he was with the A’s. He’ll battle the Brewer’s Corbin Burnes, who has a solid three wins this year, but has given up a ton of runs to get his ERA up to 4.01 early in the season.
Vegas has curiously set the runs at a meager O/U 7.5. We’ll take that! Brewers/Giants OVER 7.5 Runs (-110) is today’s Bro’s Best Bet.

Happy Friday to all of our MLBbro.com fam! Let’s turn the end of the week into the beginning of your winning streak, as we pick three winners leading into your weekend. If haven’t been following since last week, I’ll give you two Friday picks and a best bet to make sure you can put a few extra dollars in that church collection plate. Let’s jump into the picks and hopefully you’ll be singing my praises once they hit!
1. Spring in the Midwest is one of the most beautiful places in April, but the Cleveland Guardians (-125) are welcoming the visiting Seattle Mariners (+105) with something nasty when they matchup for an early afternoon game in The Land. Seattle and Cleveland are off to very different starts, as the Mariners have just two wins to start the year and the Guardians lead the AL Central with five wins and two losses. With third year flame thrower Aaron Civale still sporting zero earned runs and MLBbro Josh Naylor already knocking out two homers on the year, I’m riding the hot hands to the win. Take the Cleveland Guardians ML (-125).

2. Did I mention Cleveland is where it’s at in the spring? The game so nice, I’m betting it twice! We’re keeping it with the Cleveland Guardians and Seattle Mariners for my #BrosBestBet, and taking the Under 8 total runs (-105). Not only is Aaron Civale brilliant on the mound, but Seattle’s righty Logan Gilbert is no slouch with a 1.5 ERA and seven strikeouts in his one and only start. This should be a defensive struggle, and I’m putting my money on it.
3. To end our night, how about some sizzle in Florida? No we’re not talking South Beach, we’re talking about the RED-HOT Tampa Bay Rays (-280) as they host the Oakland Athletics (+235). While both teams have taken a very meager approach in how they fund their clubs, the Rays have wisely invested in talented young pitchers (McClanahan/Eflin) and grown their talented batters (Franco/Siri/Arozarena) into big time contenders. Meanwhile, the A’s continue to struggle to fill a roster with any notable names, and their pitching staff have one of the highest ERA in the league at 5.79. Take this sad A’s fan’s advice and bet the Ray’s -1.5 Runline (-150).

We’re in the home stretch MLBBro.com fam! We’re saying goodbye (not Dubai, like Mr. Rob Parker) to the regular season, and screaming hello to postseason baseball.
It’s been a fun ride all season long here with the #BrosBettingBaseball (@bbruh916 / @abookay3) and we hope we lined those pockets with more green than the wall-monster in Boston. Enough with the sappy stuff, let’s lay some maple wood on the leather and hit some home run winners with today’s 3 picks!
1. Things are tighter than a hippo in stretch pants in the NL East race! The New York Mets (-110) hold the slight lead as they visit the second place Atlanta Braves (-110) in this pick’em battle for the top spot. The Mets have given up so much real estate after dominating the first 50 games of the season, and they hope their longtime ace Jacob DeGrom (2.93 ERA, 5 wins – 3 losses) can help salvage their lead against the Brave’s own ace, Max Fried (2.5 ERA, 13 wins – 7 losses). Things may be rough for the Mets, though, as DeGrom’s return has left a bit to be desired. He’s allowed 3 or more runs in his last 3 games and has 0 wins in all three games. The Mets are also still missing MLB Bro Starling Marte to a finger injury, and their big bat Pete Alonso has gone 1 for 8 at bat in his last two games. With the Mets trending down, it’s a strong lean for us picking the hot Atlanta Braves moneyline.
2. Let’s stay in Atlanta for pick number 2! Despite the struggles discussed in the earlier pick, Jacob DeGrom is still dealing as his WHIP sits at an amazing 0.74. Through 58.1 innings pitch, DeGrom recorded 91 strikeouts and has a well-rested arm after sitting out the majority of the season. On the other side, Max Fried’s WHIP is nearly as impressive at 1.02, and if we’re talking about trends, he’s only given up 2 or less earned runs in every start in September. It’s a scary low number, but I’m loving Under 7 total combined runs between the Braves and Mets.
3. There’s a lot on the line for our last pick of the day, as the Wild Card hopeful Milwaukee Brewers (-178) welcome in the Miami Marlins (+150). If you’re a fan of pitching, go ahead and grab a glizzy and some peanuts before you tune in as Miami’s Sandy Alcantara (2.32 ERA, 14 wins – 8 losses) and Milwaukee’s Corbin Burnes (3.11 ERA, 11 wins – 8 losses) will be putting on a show!
The two pitchers have an amazing, combined strikeout count of 420 Ks, and have only allowed 101 combined total bases on balls. These two guys are in their prime as they wrap up their 3rd year in the bigs, but only the Brewers still have something to play for and their offensive fire power (top 10 in slugging and home runs) is lightyears ahead of the Marlins (bottom 10 in all offensive categories). Go ahead and count on the Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline as the #BrosBestBet, and we’ll see you all back here next season as PLAYOFF BASEBALL begins in a week and some change!
