Happy Juneteenth weekend, MLBbro.com Family! As we celebrate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, let us also recognize the impact Black and Brown baseball players have on our sport’s culture. Jackie Robinson not only integrated the MLB but also paved the way for integration in all American sports. Curt Flood sacrificed his MLB career by suing the league in protest of the “reserve clause” in 1970.
Although he lost the suit in 1972, he ignited the fire within the baseball player’s union who eventually struck down the clause and ushered in free agency in 1976. It’s not lost on me how the game of baseball has grown because of these two outstanding great Black players, and many others before (Negro League) and after. Without them, this site wouldn’t exist. Let’s honor them all weekend as we make a little profit with these three winners!
1. The AL East is starting to separate the top from the bottom of the division, and the New York Yankees (-115) currently sit right in the middle of the pack. They hope to keep the Boston Red Sox (-105) in the division’s basement, and there are a couple of MLBbros in the Bronx to help make that happen.
Willie Calhoun (.238 batting average, 5 home runs, 16 RBIs) has seen a resurgence since making the Yankee’s active roster in April. The Vallejo native made the best of his departure from his home team Giants, and he helped fill the hole at DH created when fellow MLBbro Giancarlo Stanton (.222 batting average, 6 home runs, 13 RBIs) went down in mid April. Now that both are in the lineup, we should see the Yankees continue to climb the ranks while Aaron Judge recovers from his own injuries.
Cold Summer in Boston. I’m taking the MLBbros and the Yankees ML (-115).
2. Why fix what’s not broken? Such is the question the St. Louis Cardinals (-110) have to answer after trying to “fix” MLBbro Jordan Walker’s (.293 batting average, 4 home runs, 17 RBIs) swing early in the season. The young rookie has impressed despite the hurdles of overmanagement by his team and inconsistent pitching. Case in point is starter Miles Mikolas (4 wins – 3 losses, 4.02 ERA), who will look to get the Cards back on track after one of the worst start of the franchise’s history.
Standing in their way are the equally disappointing New York Mets (-110). After losing slugger Pete Alonso (22 home runs, 49 RBIs), there has been little to cheer about in Queens. They hope starter Tylor Megill (5 wins – 4 losses, 5.14 ERA) can stifle the jeers from the home crowd.
Cards on the comeback. Take the Cardinals ML (-110).
3. I’ve been dogging them all year, but the Oakland A’s (+130) are suddenly winning games! With their rich history, I’m happy to see it even if it’s on the way out. After their performances against the league’s best Rays, it’s not too hard to see them keeping the game close against the Philadelphia Phillies (-150).
Let’s keep it going Oakland!! Bro’s best bet is the A’s +1.5 (-35)
Welcome back MLBbros and gals, and I’m writing at you from the betting capital of the world, Las Vegas! I guess the A’s aren’t the only Northern California product to make its way to the desert, but unlike them I’m just here to get my cash and bounce like a coed at one of Rob Parker’s favorite establishments.
ANYWHOO, I have yet to drop a game this week so let’s make these three a clean sweep!
First stop on today’s money making mission is Pittsburgh, as the Pirates (+125) welcome in the Toronto Blue Jays (-145). What a ride for one of the original MLBbros, Andrew McCutchen. After launching his career in the Steel City 13 years ago, he returned to lead the Pirates in home runs and help mentor up-and-coming MLBbro Ke’Bryan Hayes. The Pirates are still shockingly first in the NL Central, and are being disrespected by those dirty bookies in today’s matchup against the Blue Jays.
Take the Pirates +1.5 (-135).
2. Contrary to popular belief, it does indeed rain in Southern California…and we’re hoping it does rain (dollars) for our second pick, as the Los Angeles Dodgers (-125) take that trip down I-5 to battle their NL West rival San Diego Padres (+105). The Dodgers appear to be back in business after a slow start riddled with injuries and new dads who were out on paternity leave. They are back on top of the NL West, and their wily veteran Clayton Kershaw (5 wins – 1 loss, 1.89 ERA) gets much of the credit for being one of the lone consistent pieces on this team.
While MLBbro, and former MVP, Mookie Betts works himself back into championship form after his paternity leave, another member of the new dad club is leading the Dodgers in home runs (12) and RBIs (27). Mad Max Muncy is on a tear, and if his walk-off grand slam last Wednesday is a preview of what’s to come then the Padres are in trouble.
The Padres should make it interesting, but the pick is Dodgers moneyline (-125).
3. We’re ending our Friday in my neck of the woods, as the Milwaukee Brewers (-125) are continuing their NL West tour against the San Francisco Giants (+105). The Giants are mediocre. No way around it. Bottom half in the league in batting average, runs, hits, and on base percentage. Their starting pitcher, Sean Manaea (0 wins – 1 loss, 7.85 ERA), seems to have lost the velocity and filth that once made his games must-see-TV when he was with the A’s. He’ll battle the Brewer’s Corbin Burnes, who has a solid three wins this year, but has given up a ton of runs to get his ERA up to 4.01 early in the season.
Vegas has curiously set the runs at a meager O/U 7.5. We’ll take that! Brewers/Giants OVER 7.5 Runs (-110) is today’s Bro’s Best Bet.
Cheers to a great Opening Day in the MLB, and hopefully we put some money in your band MLBbro.com family!
If you’re hurting in the pockets, though, I have three picks to make your luck switch.
Even if you had a great day one, there’s more where that came from. Bouncing back or riding a streak, make sure you’re checking in with your Bro Betting Baseball, Sean Bo, all week long to keep that to make sure your baseball betting game stays strong.
1. Let’s ride that donk to H-Town, as the returning champion Houston Astros (-165) look to be bad hosts to the visiting Chicago White Sox (+140). Even though our fellow MLBbro Tim Anderson is looking to have a great comeback season for Chitown, the Astros are still loaded on both sides of the field despite losing a couple of big bats in Jose Altuve and Michael Brantley to start the season. Look for the young right-hander Christian Javier to continue to throw some of the nastiest stuff we’ve seen since last season, as I see him poised to take a win from Lance Lynn of the White Sox. Take the Astros on the -165 moneyline.
2. We’re throwing it to rainy SoCal for game two, as the Colorado Rockies (+135) try to find some sunshine when they fly into the San Diego Padres (-160). The Padres broke the bank this offseason and are under immense pressure to top their 2022 season after a gentlemen’s sweep in the NLCS by the Phillies. The Rockies, on the other hand, and just looking to escape a decade of mediocrity as they continue to see every other team in the elite NL West improve and spend at a far higher rate than there cost cutting general manager, Bill Schmidt. The Rockies did break the bank for outfielder Kris Bryant, and the San Diego Padres inked yet another monstrous deal with Manny Machado. I can hear the bats snapping all night in this matchup, so take the -110 Over 8.5 total runs.
3. We’ll keep it in California and the NL West, but head up north to Los Angeles to watch the Dodgers (-165) take on their inter-division rival Arizona Diamondbacks (+140). Even though I’ve been impressed by the D-Backs starter Merrill Kelly, who finished the 2022 year with 13 wins and eight losses, it’s hard to bet against the bats of the Dodgers and superstars the likes of MLBbro Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Jason Heyward. The caveat here is the Dodgers starting pitcher Dustin May, who struggled last year to just a two win and three loss record with a 4.5 ERA and middling 29 strikeouts. With pitching up in the air and some big bats to contend with, today’s Bro’s best bet is the -105 Over 8.5 total runs. Let’s run these numbers up, good luck, and please gamble responsibly!
We’re in the home stretch MLBBro.com fam! We’re saying goodbye (not Dubai, like Mr. Rob Parker) to the regular season, and screaming hello to postseason baseball.
It’s been a fun ride all season long here with the #BrosBettingBaseball (@bbruh916 / @abookay3) and we hope we lined those pockets with more green than the wall-monster in Boston. Enough with the sappy stuff, let’s lay some maple wood on the leather and hit some home run winners with today’s 3 picks!
1. Things are tighter than a hippo in stretch pants in the NL East race! The New York Mets (-110) hold the slight lead as they visit the second place Atlanta Braves (-110) in this pick’em battle for the top spot. The Mets have given up so much real estate after dominating the first 50 games of the season, and they hope their longtime ace Jacob DeGrom (2.93 ERA, 5 wins – 3 losses) can help salvage their lead against the Brave’s own ace, Max Fried (2.5 ERA, 13 wins – 7 losses). Things may be rough for the Mets, though, as DeGrom’s return has left a bit to be desired. He’s allowed 3 or more runs in his last 3 games and has 0 wins in all three games. The Mets are also still missing MLB Bro Starling Marte to a finger injury, and their big bat Pete Alonso has gone 1 for 8 at bat in his last two games. With the Mets trending down, it’s a strong lean for us picking the hot Atlanta Braves moneyline.
2. Let’s stay in Atlanta for pick number 2! Despite the struggles discussed in the earlier pick, Jacob DeGrom is still dealing as his WHIP sits at an amazing 0.74. Through 58.1 innings pitch, DeGrom recorded 91 strikeouts and has a well-rested arm after sitting out the majority of the season. On the other side, Max Fried’s WHIP is nearly as impressive at 1.02, and if we’re talking about trends, he’s only given up 2 or less earned runs in every start in September. It’s a scary low number, but I’m loving Under 7 total combined runs between the Braves and Mets.
3. There’s a lot on the line for our last pick of the day, as the Wild Card hopeful Milwaukee Brewers (-178) welcome in the Miami Marlins (+150). If you’re a fan of pitching, go ahead and grab a glizzy and some peanuts before you tune in as Miami’s Sandy Alcantara (2.32 ERA, 14 wins – 8 losses) and Milwaukee’s Corbin Burnes (3.11 ERA, 11 wins – 8 losses) will be putting on a show!
The two pitchers have an amazing, combined strikeout count of 420 Ks, and have only allowed 101 combined total bases on balls. These two guys are in their prime as they wrap up their 3rd year in the bigs, but only the Brewers still have something to play for and their offensive fire power (top 10 in slugging and home runs) is lightyears ahead of the Marlins (bottom 10 in all offensive categories). Go ahead and count on the Milwaukee Brewers Moneyline as the #BrosBestBet, and we’ll see you all back here next season as PLAYOFF BASEBALL begins in a week and some change!
