Daz Cameron Is Back In The Big D | The Second Generation MLBbro Is Always Instant Impact

Daz Cameron Is Back In The Big D | The Second Generation MLBbro Is Always Instant Impact

Daz Cameron is no stranger to the big leagues. He made his MLB debut with the Tigers in 2020 and since, he’s split time playing in the minors and with the big league team.

This season, the 25-year-old has appeared in four games with Detroit and he wants to make sure that he performs well enough to stay in the big leagues throughout the season.

Cameron has recorded a hit in his last two games, definitely a good sign for the talented outfielder.

On May 17, he went 1-for-3 against the Tampa Bay Rays. He made his next appearance five days later against the Cleveland Guardians and recorded his first RBI of the season in his first at-bat of the game.

He also flashed some leather against the Guardians too. In the bottom of the fifth inning, he robbed a potential home run hit by Amed Rosario and turned it into a double play.

Cameron finished the game with two hits to go along with his RBI.

Putting Cameron at the bottom of the lineup has proved to work well so far. The ninth batter is sometimes seen as another leadoff hitter.

You want a player who knows how to get on base and can keep the defense on its toes at the bottom of the lineup, and Cameron fits that really well.

He has speed and can hit for average and power. And the brother knows how to track down balls in the outfield. With the Tigers dealing with multiple injuries, Cameron is now being called upon to step and make some things happen for his team.

Daz Cameron | Second Generation MLBbro Is Trying To Stick In The Bigs

Last season, Cameron was making some noise on the field and it was gaining some attention across the league. There was a stretch where he hit three home runs in nine games. His bat was on fire and he was helping the Tigers in a big way at the plate.

On Father’s Day last year, he hit a two-run single in the 10th inning to give the Tigers a 5-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels. And what made things even better that game was his father, former MLB player Mike Cameron, was in attendance and it was the first time he saw his son play in person at the big league level.

“That was definitely something that I will never forget,” Daz Cameron told the Detroit News after that performance. “I was glad to see my family here.”

It doesn’t get any better than that.

Cameron is a talented ball player and he’s already proven that he has what it takes to play on the big stage.

If he can be consistent and make an impact at the plate and in the field, the Tigers would have to consider keeping him around much longer. There’s a reason that he’s a player they keep calling up, they know what he brings to the team.

It’s all about how he performs when he gets that opportunity, and so far this season, he’s giving the Tigers a reason to keep him around. This brother is someone you want to keep tabs on throughout the season.

Daz Cameron’s Rookie Season Continues To Teeterboard

The Detroit Tigers optioned outfielder Daz Camron to the Toledo Mud Hens on August 29th ‘to get his swing going,’ the organization explains.

The team is currently looking for another arm down the stretch, and with the way Cameron‘s batting average continues to plummet, the decision came swiftly.

Tigers
manager AJ Hinch told the Detroit Free Press:

“We will take at least a 10-day period to get Daz’s rhythm, timing, and get his swing going in the right direction.” Hinch added, “He needs to play every day, something he is not doing right now. Hopefully, at some point between now and the end of the season, he gets more time up in the big leagues here.”

A minor setback makes for a significant comeback as Cameron lifted a two-run dinger to left field in his first game back in the minors.

He finished the day 1-for-5 with two RBI and one home run.

Cam
eron wanted to make sure those in attendance and the hire-ups were paying attention.

So, on day three, he opened the game with a loud solo home run to left-center to put his team up 1-0.

Through 136 at-bats, the 24-year-old is hitting .279 in Toledo with 14 RBI, seven walks, and a couple of blasts.

The demotion seems to be working out as it is essential for Daz to get consistent at bats for his swing to take shape.

“There are days he comes with different hand placements, different rhythm, different timing; That is hard to do at this level,” said Hinch. When we’ve seen the electrifying skills, and I think he’s going to be back in short order, but consistency can only come with playing.”

Cameron was hitting .177 with 14 hits, 11 RBI, four bases on balls, and three home runs in 25 MLB games.

One of his homers came on Father’s Day with his MLB Dad Mike in the stands.

Mike Cameron Got His Wish For Father’s Day | Son Daz Showed Out

Injuries have continued to plague his illustrious career. Toe strains and elbow problems have kept the rookie out of a potentially All-Black outfield featuring fellow MLBbros “Real Deal” Akil Baddoo and Derek “Thrill” Hill.

But the kid is not bereft of talent as big-time players make big-time plays.

Daz did that against the Toronto Blue Jays when he connected on a two-out RBI double in extras to put the Tigers ahead on the day Miguel Cabrera joined the exclusive 500-home run club.

All indications point to Cameron making a jump back to the show between now and mid-September due to the 10-day eligibility stint a player must complete after an organization options them to the minor league.

It seems the team has this one right. Taking one step back will make for a triumphant return for Daz in the long run. He’s got the pedigree and the skills to play a long time in the league.

Daz Cameron Is Still Applying Pressure To MLB Pitchers | The Tigers Rookie Is Regulating

The Detroit Tigers have a talented young player by the name of Daz Cameron. The 24-year-old has been raising some eyebrows recently with his impressive stat line.

Cameron has had success at the plate as he is currently riding a five-game hitting streak after his 1-for-3 performance against the St. Louis Cardinals on June 23rd. During his hitting streak, he is batting .350 with two home runs and six RBI.

Our MLBbro has not been with the Tigers long this season, but his presence has been felt on multiple levels. Through nine games, he’s posting a .242 batting average with three stolen bases, and eight RBI.

And peep this, he made his MLB debut with the Tigers during the 2020 season. He appeared in 17 games and did not hit a home run. Fast forward to this season and he’s already got three jacks in nine games. So there is some pop in the 6-foot-2 185-pound frame of Cameron.

Now that’s how you make a name for yourself right there. Cameron had a big performance on June 20th against the Los Angeles Angels. With the game tied going into extra innings, the Tigers needed a clutch at-bat and Cameron was the man that came through.

He hit a two-run single in the 10th inning to propel the Tigers to a 5-3 win over the Angels on Father’s Day. What made it even better was that his father, former 17-year major league veteran Mike Cameron, was in attendance the entire series.

“That was definitely something that I will never forget,” Daz Cameron told The Detroit News. “I was glad to see my family here.”

This brother was on fire the entire series against the Angels. The game before he came through in a big way, he went 2-for-4 with a home run at the plate.

You know nothing too shabby right? Just another day at the office for Cameron. It has not taken him long to adapt and perform.

Watching him play, you can see that he was made for these moments. He does not shy away from the spotlight and he’s as calm as they come.

With how he’s been playing lately, there’s no question the Tigers have to find a way to keep him in the lineup. A defining moment for Cameron came in his second game of the 2021 season. That’s when he hit his first home run off his career.

And he did it off one of the top relievers in the game, Chicago White Sox’s Liam Hendricks.

“I was just looking to be ready to hit,” Cameron told mlive.com. “He throws hard and his fastball runs a little bit. I just wanted to be sure I got on top of it.”

“It felt good coming off the bat. I squared it up good and when I saw it fly, I knew it had a chance to go out.”

Going forward, our MLBbro will look to keep himself in the Tigers’ lineup and help make an impact on the team. One thing is certain, this kid was born to ball and make baseball better.
