Kaden Martin The Dual-Threat Son Of Legendary Tennessee Volunteers Quarterback Tee Martin Hopes To Hear Name Called In MLB Draft

When you think Tennessee football you immediately think quarterback Peyton Manning and former head coach Johnny Majors.

But if you ask any real Volunteers fan “who led you to your last national championship?” They’ll tell you about Tee Martin in 1998, which happened to be the following season after Manning was taken No.1 overall in the NFL Draft.

While Martin would play four seasons in the NFL and two in Canada, the former dual-threat signal caller has made his name in the coaching ranks as one of the brightest up-and-coming offensive minds. He’s currently the wide receivers coach for the Baltimore Ravens.

Martin’s son, Kaden is a 2022 dual-threat quarterback and pitcher/outfielder who attended nationally ranked McDonogh High School located in Owings Mill, MD, a suburb of nearby Baltimore, MD, during football season.

Kaden, who returned to Buford High School in Georgia during baseball season, is looking to carry on the Martin family’s legacy in the pros like his older brother Amari Rodgers, who plays for the Green Bay Packers and starred at Clemson.

While Kaden isn’t currently a ranked prospect, the belief is that he may still hear his name called between July 17-19. Although not a ranked prospect, Martin is being predicted to be taken somewhere between the 55th and 60th selection in the draft. His upside and raw talent is just too much for teams to overlook.

 

Kaden Is Immersed In The Draft Process

Kaden excels on both the gridiron and baseball field. But his dream is to play in the majors. In a recent interview, Tee talked about his return to the Knoxville campus for the first time in almost a year as well as his son going through the MLB Draft process.

“He’s going through the draft process to see how that goes, and then as a family we’ll make a decision about college or pro. He just got back from the combine in San Diego and did some great things there. It’s a dream of his to play Major League Baseball, so as parents, all you can do is support your child’s dream.”

 Kaden is a four-star football recruit in the class of 2022. He was also a highly ranked baseball recruit as well. In March of last year, he committed to play baseball and football for the Miami Hurricanes. But it seems that he has made a decision as to which sport, he’s going to focus on, and that’s baseball. It’s always been his favorite sports

 

 

 

A little over 15 months later and Kaden is hoping to hear his name called by one MLB franchise. Dad, Tee talked about his admiration for the sport of baseball and how that may have affected Kaden.

“Baseball was my favorite sport as a kid … but baseball didn’t pay the bills in college, and I chose the sport that did. Kaden is living the life that I wanted to live as a dual-sport athlete and really has an opportunity to write his own script. I’m just happy for him … and I hope that he does just what he wants to do in this moment and lives that.”

 Kaden Has Plenty Of Talent: Will He Be Drafted?

Martin was the No.1 ranked player in Maryland after being the same in Tennessee. At McDonogh he torched pitchers with regularity. Standing 6–foot-1 and 210 pounds, Martin blends extreme athleticism and very defined power to make him a prospect an MLB team could take a chance on. His power from the left side of the plate is where he really sets himself apart. Defensively Martin has good range and an adequate arm in the outfield. He also pitches but will be drafted as an outfielder.

 Martin’s ability at the plate and his ever-growing defensive capabilities will be too hard to pass up for one MLB franchise.
