Jarrod Dyson Adds Speed & Spice To Blue Jays Playoff Push

The Toronto Blue Jays claimed former World Series champion Jarrod Dyson off waivers in hopes of bringing some 2015 magic to this year’s playoff run.

Jarrod Dyson will forever be considered a legend in the great state of Kansas for helping bring two American League pennants and a World Series championship to the Royals.

Dyson was a 50th round pick in the 2006 MLB draft out of Southwest Mississippi Community College and made his debut for the Royals in 2010.

Throughout the next few years he spent time moving up and down in the organization and uses his legs to increase his value, swiping a career-high 36 bases in 2014 and posting a career-high batting average of .278 with 25 RBI and eight triples in 2016.

Many times Dyson appeared as a defensive replacement or pinch runner for the Royals, most notably during Game 5 of the 2015 World Series when he entered the game for Salvador Perez late in the 12th inning, stole second and ended up giving the Royals their first lead in what would be the series clinching game.

Dyson was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2017 and had stints with the Diamondbacks, Pirates and White Sox before making his return to the Royals this past off-season.

Putting In Work For The Kansas City Royals Is Old Hat For Jarrod Dyson

This season Dyson has 122 plate appearances and is batting .221 with eight steals, 10 RBI and 13 runs.  He is fifth in Royals team history with 184 stolen bases and has 264 total for his career.

He joins a Toronto Blue Jays team, who
entering Sunday, sit 6.5 games back of the second wild card spot with only a month left in the season.

Dyson also provides defensive depth to the team as fellow MLBbro George Springer is nearing a return from a sprained knee that landed him on the Injured List.

This is expected to be one of the most entertaining playoff races we have seen in years, and the Jays just got a sparkplug who can change the game in an instant.Â
