Tigers Call Up MLBbro Brendon Davis For MLB Debut | Talented Infielder Gets Taste Of Tough MLB Grind
October 1, 2022 will forever be a special day for Brendon Davis. The Detroit Tigers decided to call him up from the minors and he made his Big League debut against the Minnesota Twins.
“He’s going to start at third base (Saturday),” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said of Davis. “We have a small opportunity here, only a week. But as I told him in my office, any opportunity is a good opportunity. Just come and do your best to play the game.”
Davis went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. But he finally got a chance to live out his dream and play in a big league game.
When he got the news that he was being called up, he was surprised.
“This came out of the blue for sure,” Davis told the Detroit News. “I wasn’t expecting it, but it’s a great opportunity. An opportunity I’ve been working for my whole life.”

Before he made his debut with the Tigers, Davis played for Triple-A affiliate, Toledo Mud Hens. During his time in Triple-A, he appeared in 103 games and hit .232 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI. In September alone he hit six home runs.
The Tigers acquired Davis from the Los Angeles Angels back in May and he has made quite an impact during his time in the minors. He was drafted in the fifth round in 2015 by the Dodgers and spent time in the Dodgers and Texas Rangers farm systems.
The 25-year-old has big league potential and there was a reason the Tigers decided to call him up and give him a chance. Despite going hitless in his debut, he had a few good swings in his at bats and he looked comfortable playing third base. It is always great to see players being called up and make their MLB debut.
Davis will take this experience, learn from it and work on getting back to the big leagues. You better believe that he’s going to put in the work in the offseason to try and make the roster when Spring Training comes around. It’s going to be exciting seeing this brother’s career and watch how he develops over time.
Hopefully it won’t be the last time this brother appears in the big leagues.
