The Cincinnati Reds have come back down to Earth as of late after running off to their best start in over a decade, but ace pitcher Hunter Greene has been doing his part to harness the consistency to lead the Reds into the playoffs.

Comparing his first six starts of this season to last season reveals Greene’s marked improvement.

  • His ERA is lower…
  • Opponents’ Batting average has dropped…
  • The Percentage of opponents on base is lower…
  • Opponent slugging percentage has dropped…
  • Better control on the mound has led to less walks…
  • Best of all Hunter Greene is averaging more innings pitched…

MLBbro.com’s Malik Wright sums up what Greene has done to make these improvements on the mound in a recent interview with the rising star.

Hunter Greene Is A Man of The Community

In addition to inviting the players and coaches of the 2023 and 2024 Dream Series to his Arizona home for dinner, Greene Machine has taken to the community to make a difference for children in the Cincinnati area.

Hunter is also offering 10 free miniature bobbleheads as a personal gift to elementary or high school kids who showed improvement in their grades in core classes.

Hopefully this program grows exponentially to much higher numbers in future giveaways. It’s a nice transition from specifically using them for marketing programs like the “Reds Pick 6” ticket plan that they were used for last season. Greene surprised some kids and spent time with them asking questions

This is nothing new for Hunter Greene. He has been doing this for a while. When Hunter was in the minors back in 2021 with the Louisville Bats, he gave away 3,000 new pairs of baseball cleats to local kids and high school players near the Los Angeles area.

He shared his thoughts with CBS LA about the importance of his mission of giving back…

“I’m doing this because I have the platform to be able to give back,” Greene told CBS LA (Nov. 27, 2021). “It’s important to spread the love, be able to provide kids with the best resources, the best equipment. Especially with the pandemic and COVID last year, it was really hard for families to put money together and get the best of the best for their children. If I can help with that and make the kids feel special, that’s the ultimate goal. And I’m happy and proud to do that.”

Another MLBbro that is taking his position as a leader and inspirational figure for young Black players and making a positive impact on the game for future generations.
